BHUBANESWAR: An auto-rickshaw driver slit the throat of a man for coming to the rescue of a woman. Bulu Digal, who is working as a driver for Kalyani Rout, was reversing the four-wheeler near her employer’s house when an auto-rickshaw hit the vehicle.

Rout stepped out of the four-wheeler and confronted the auto driver, but he argued and twisted her hands. On seeing the auto-driver physically assaulting Rout, Digal came to her rescue and this led to heated exchange of words between them.

The auto-driver then slit the throat of Digal possibly with a key he was holding. “The auto-driver misbehaved with me and even twisted my hands. When I protested against the incident, he got infuriated,” Rout said. After the incident, Digal was provided first aid and his condition was stated to be stable.

Digal later approached Nayapalli Police along with his family members and lodged a complaint. Digal informed the police that he knows the auto-driver, who had attacked him. “We have received the complaint and are trying to trace the auto-driver while further investigation into the matter is on,” Nayapalli police said.
