DUBAI, 13th December, 2017 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) and Chairman of the Higher Committee for the Protection of the Rights of People of Determination, attended on Wednesday the closing ceremony the 2017 Asian Youth Para Games.
Sheikh Mansour was accompanied by Hessa Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, Thani Juma Belregad, Chairman of Dubai Club for People of Determination and Deputy President of Asian Paralympic Committee, APC, Majid Al Osaimi, APC President and a number of sports officials.
HH also toured the heritage village staged on paralleled with the event.
Over 800 athletes from 30 countries involved in the third Games which took place in Dubai over the last four days under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council. Athletes under 20 years of age competed in 7 sports; powerlifting, table tennis, goalball, badminton, boccia, swimming and athletics.
Dubai hosted the 3rd championship for the first time in the Middle East.
The event was organised by the UAE National Paralympic Committee, Dubai Club for People of Determination in cooperation with the Asian Paralympic Committee.
The last Asian Youth Para Games were held in Malaysia in 2013
