The Summit emphasized the centrality of the cause of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif to all humanity, as it is the main reason for the establishment of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), stressing that it will not be possible for the Islamic nation to strongly defend its issues at the global level except through unity and solidarity, renewing the commitment to the terms and provisions of the Charters of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the United Nations and the principles of international law.
The meeting referred to the resolutions adopted by the Islamic Summit Conference and the Council of OIC Foreign Ministers on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif, reaffirming United Nations resolutions on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif, in particular Security Council resolution 478 in 1980.
The Summit greeted the extraordinary peaceful resistance being shown by the entire Palestinian people, especially the people of Al-Quds Al-Sharif, through their huge sacrifices against the heinous violations at Al-Haram Al-Sharif in July 2017, stressing the importance of joint action with all international partners who share the Islamic countries the same visions and ideas to address the statement by the US President Trump, based on international legality and law, as well as to refrain from violence in all its forms.
The participants in the Summit expressed support for the role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as custodian of the holy sites in Al-Quds Al-Sharif and for the steadfast position of the Jordanian Endowments Department in preserving the sanctity of Al-Haram Al-Sharif and its historical status as a place of worship.
