3 killed in Rajshahi accident

RAJSHAHI: Three people including a bus helper were killed and at least 15 others injured as two buses collided head-on in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi Wednesday (December 13).

The deceased were identified as Hurunur Rashid, 60, hailed from Sapahar upazila of Naogaon, Asia Begum, 60, hailed from Nachole upazila of Chapainawabganj and Shuvo, 24, the bus helper hailed from Porsha upazila of Naogaon.  

The accident took place at around 8:30am.

Witnesses said that two buses of Ekota and Hridoy paribahans collided face-to-face before Matikata Adarsha Degree College, leaving Shuvo dead on the spot and the two others injured.

Of them, Harunur died while was being taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) and Asia succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

The injured were taken to Godagari 31-bed Hospital and RMCH.

Low visibility caused by dense fog led to accident, said locals.

Godagari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hipjur Alam Munshi said that the two buses will be removed from the spot.
