VADODARA: A man of Nani Bhadol village of Savli taluka was booked for allegedly raping his colleague's six-year-old daughter on December 9. The girl's father lodged a complaint on Tuesday night after his family members insisted on filing complaint.
The man told the police in his complaint that the accused Ankit Vasava, who lives in the same village and works with him in a private company, came to his house on December 9 morning. The complainant stated that Vasava was playing with his daughter, who studies in class I, when he went for bath. When the man returned, his daughter was half-naked and crying.
On being asked about the incident, the girl narrated the suffering to her parents. Police said that Vasava took the girl inside a room under the pretext of having rice. The accused then locked the door and raped the girl. The complainant also said that later when he went to Vasava's house to complain, his parents instead got into arguments with him and Vasava meanwhile fled from there.
The girl's father did not complaint initially due to social stigma, but on insistence of elders of his family he contacted 181 Abhayam helpline and registered complaint against Vasava at Savli police station on Tuesday night. Police said that they got the girl's medical check-up done on Wednesday.
However, Vasava had not been arrested since most of the officials had been occupied with election duties. A police official said that they will act against the accused once the polls are over.
