New Delhi , Dec 13 : Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan congratulated Piyush Pandey and Prasoon Pandey for being the first Indians to win Lifetime Achievement Awards at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
The two brothers, Piyush and Prasoon, have become the first Asians to receive the Lion of St Mark, the highest honour that the Cannes International Festival of Creativity in the communications industry.
Piyush Pandey, executive chairman and creative director Ogilvy South Asia, won his first Cannes Lions awards with two Gold Lions for his work on an anti-smoking campaign in 2002, marking the start of a period of global recognition for a man who was already a creative legend in his native India.
Prasoon Pandey, younger brother of Piyush, has repeatedly been featured in global rankings of top film directors.
Prasoon is credited for directing the first Indian campaign to win a Lion, for Ericsson's 'One Black Coffee' in 1996 and is one of the most awarded directors in India.
Soon after the 75-year-old actor saw the news, he took to his Twitter handle, writing, "T 2740 - What a moment !! First Indians to win this prestigious Award from Cannes .. congratulations Piyush ji and Prasoon ji and many more to come .. for me personally it has been an absolute honour to have worked with you .. ???? ???? ! ???? ?? ???? ???? ???? ????? ??? !????"
Reportedly, the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has announced that brothers Piyush (left) and Prasoon Pandey (right) will be honoured with the Lion of St. Mark award at the 2018 Festival.
This is the 8th Lion of St. Mark awarded by the Cannes Film Festival. Previous recipients include David Droga, John Hegarty, Lee Clow, Marcello Serpa, Dan Wieden, Joe Pytka and Bob Greenberg.
