Transcript: Roy Moore is Refusing to Concede to Doug Jones, Here's Why

Alabama’s Republican Senate contender Roy Moore is refusing to concede to Doug Jones.

Apparently Moore and his team are holding out hope the final one percent of ballots that still need counting could narrow Jones’ lead to less than 0.5%, which would trigger an automatic recount.

Democrat Jones bested Moore by just 20,000 votes, a margin of 1.5%, the first time in 25 years a Democrat in Alabama has won the seat.

Moore remaining steadfast telling his supporters, “when the vote is this close, it is not over.” But President Trump, who heavily campaigned for Moore-- --choosing to accept defeat, congratulating Jones on twitter, saying “Republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time.” The deeply red state swung in Jones’ favor after multiple women came forward alleging sexual misconduct at the hands of Moore when he was in his 30s and when they were in their teens.

ABC News reports women played a crucial role in Jones’ win, exit polls showing 58% of women supporting him compared to 41% for Moore.

The cover of the New York Daily News reflecting the sentiment of many voters, as the republicans continue to hold a extremely slim majority in the senate.
