Maha Council adjourned for 3rd day over farmers' issues

The Legislative Council was today adjourned for the third consecutive day after opposition's demand for a discussion on farmers' issues.

As the proceedings began in the Upper House, the opposition moved an adjournment motion before Deputy Chairman to set aside the daily listed agenda and discuss the problems and other issues related to farmers.


Thakre dismissed the motion, but allowed leader to put forward his views in the House.

The ruling party objected to this, leading to heated arguments between Leader of the House and Leader of Opposition Dhananjay Munde.

The members of the ruling party as well as the opposition trooped into the well of the House.

The proceedings were adjourned four times and finally the Chair adjourned the House for the day at 1.30 pm.

Later, told mediapersons outside the House that the was ready to table the answers on the farmers' issues raised by the opposition.

However, the opposition was not ready to listen and did not let the House run, he said.

The proceedings of the Council were adjourned on the last two days also over demands from the opposition to discuss the issues pertaining to farmers.
