Five, including two Rohingyas, held with yaba

Officials of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) and Detective Branch of police arrested five persons, including two Rohingya refugees, with 43,000 yaba pills in Chittagong and Savar yesterday.

Our Chittagong correspondent reports, the DNC team arrested two Rohingyas with 2,500 yaba pills, worth Tk 8.5 lakh, at Chittagong's Patiya upazila.

The arrestees are Anisullah, 20, and Md Rafik, 18, of Kutupalong refugee camp in Ukhiya of Cox's Bazar, said Assistant Director Md Zillur Rahman. The DNC team arrested the duo in Monsha Badamtal area around 8:30am when they were getting off a bus. A case was filed with Patiya Police Station.

Meanwhile, our Savar correspondent reports, Detective Branch (DB) of police in separate drives arrested three people with 40,500 yaba pills in Savar.

Tofayel Ahmed, 23, was arrested with 7,500 yaba tablets from a house in Mograkanda village under Bhakurta union, said OC AFM Sayeed of DB (Dhaka north). Amir Hossen, 20, was arrested with 13,000 pills in Zirani Bazar area while Aminullah, 30, with 20,000 yaba tablets in Bolibhadra area.

Filing of cases is underway, said police.

Meanwhile, in port city, detectives of Chittagong Metropolitan Police arrested two persons with 40 bottles of foreign wine in Double Mooring yesterday.

The arrestees are Babla, 38, and Shamim, 30. A case was filed with Double Mooring Police Station.
