Michael van Gerwen is favourite to triumph once again at this year’s World Darts Championship at the Alexandra Palace. 

However, with it being his final tournament, legend Phil Taylor will be desperate to go out on a high. 

But whoever does go on for glory, they will be in line for a healthy pay check as the prize money for the 2017/2018 tournament has increased by £50,000 compared to 2016/17. 

The prize pot this year totals a staggering £1.8million.
