Sir — This refers to the article, “When there’s no accountability” (December 11) by JS Rajput. The writer has raised some pertinent issues surrounding higher education. However, keeping politicians out of the executive committee or the management board is a task easier said than done. Private universities and institutions enjoy utmost independence but have done little to enhance the standards of higher education. On the contrary, they are running a money-spinning business. Similarly, finding academicians of repute has become a difficult proposition and many land up in thick soup because they lack financial and administrative acumen to handle the university.
