Terrifying ‘SNOWNADO’ filmed in rare footage as Brits brace for MORE snow

FOOTAGE of a snow-filled tornado tearing across the ground has surfaced as Britain braces itself for torrid weather.

Up to four inches of snow is expected to smother the country tomorrow on a day forecasters have dubbed “white Thursday”.

It comes after Storm Caroline brought the UK to a standstill over the weekend – with heavy snow and icy conditions causing traffic chaos.

A video has now surfaced of a chilling weather phenomenon aptly dubbed a “snownado”.

The clip shows the white powder swirling around in the air – ripping up parts of the ground as it moves.

Thankfully, the chilling event actually happened at the Tatra National Park in Poland.

But that didn’t stop some of the 60,000 viewers commenting their terror.

“A snownado is my winter wonderland nightmare,” one wrote.

Another added: “If I saw that in London I would run a mile.”

It was caused by a strong gale of wind hit the mountains, creating a rotating column of air that lifted up a thin layer of fine snow.

Otherwise known as snow devils, they can persist from 30 seconds to two minutes.
