The southern arm of the Indian Railways, the South Central Railway (SCR) earlier this month declared that the railway station at Kacheguda in Telangana has become the first energy-efficient ‘A1 Category’ railway station in the country.
Falling in the Hyderabad division of SCR, Kacheguda earned the distinction by achieving 100 per cent energy efficiency, said a statement by the South Central Railway.
The replacement of 1,312 conventional lights with light-emitting diode (LED) lighting, 370 ceiling fans with Brushless DC Electrical (BLDC) motors energy-efficient fans and 12 air conditioners with energy efficient inverter type ACs is what led to Kacheguda’s ascent to attaining to absolute energy efficiency.
