Kerala facing economic crisis under LDF rule: Chennithala

The led opposition in today alleged that the state was facing a severe economic crisis under rule and that the administration has come to standstill.

"Financial crisis is so severe that the opens the treasury only for day to day works', Opposition leader in the assembly Ramesh Chennithala told reporters here.


He also said welfare pension arrears amounted to Rs 1,600 crore.

Chennithala alleged that the state government's efforts to trace the fishermen, missing in the aftermath of cyclone Ockhi was proceeding very slowly.

The mechanism was insufficient to trace and recover bodies floating in the high seas, he said.

Chennithala alleged that the state was not able to provide to the Centre, the required report and accounts about the disaster.

The Ockhi cyclone has to be declared as a national disaster', he added.

He demanded that the state hold discussions with community leaders to review the relief package announced for victims of the cyclone.
