Lectrus Corp. plans to close its Houston factory after filing for bankruptcy earlier this month.
The plant, 1318 Bammel, is set to permanently close in February 2018, according to letter filed with the Texas Workforce Commission. The Chattanooga, Tenn.-based custom metal manufacturing company will lay off 64 workers at its local plant.
The letter from Lectrus attributed the plant closure to the company's "financial situation." A Lectrus spokesman declined to comment. A call to the company's attorney in Chattanooga was not immediately returned.
Lectrus filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Dec. 7. The company reported it owes $35.2 million to hundreds of creditors, and has $13.3 million in assets. The company leased its Houston plant on a month-to-month basis from Mobile Modular Management, according to court filings.
