The skit is as glorious as it is bizarre and random.
The late, legendary actor Richard Pryor once bartended at the Mos Eisley Cantina — or at least he pretended to for laughs.
In a lost clip from the short-lived Richard Pryor Show, the iconic stand-up slings drinks in a seedy space bar meant to resemble the classic watering hole from 1977's Star Wars: A New Hope.
There are numerous laugh-out-loud moments as Pryor talks sports with some aliens, tells others to get a room, eyeballs a view and finally gets into a fight with a customer. And yes, Pryor does use the N-word once.
The highly controversial, hourlong comedy-variety show only ran for four episodes in 1977 before it was pulled by NBC.
The Star Wars skit is just that much more remarkable when considering that apparently A New Hope publicist Charles Lippincott actually allowed the show to use the film's costumes as a marketing gimmick, which he explained previously on Facebook.
"I made a conscious decision to reach different audiences with these different vehicles," Lippincott wrote of the Pryor skit, the Star Wars themed Donny & Marie Show and the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special.
The highly anticipated latest saga installment, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, opens Thursday night.
