nahm at COMO Metropolitan Bangkok Awarded One Michelin Star

For the first time in its 117-year history, the Michelin Guide has included restaurants in Thailand. This year, nahm at COMO Metropolitan Bangkok was awarded one of the guide’s coveted Michelin stars, putting it among the top restaurants in Asia.

COMO Hotels and Resorts are immensely proud to be making history with this recognition, with a restaurant that digs deep into the authentic cuisine and local produce that makes Thailand such a unique destination. The combination of hot, sweet, sour and salty flavours is an intricate balancing act for any chef; our city centre kitchen has excelled in the nuances, bringing innovation to the experience with a contemporary, golden restaurant overlooking a courtyard swimming pool.

nahm’s main space has a warm, honeyed glow with inspiration drawn from Thailand’s fourteenth to eighteenth-century Ayutthaya period. Hence the textured rusty-red brick-stepped columns reminiscent of Ayutthaya temples, and the hand-crafted wooden screens. Every design detail has been attended to, including the tableware. The handpicked selection includes Benjarong bowls from Thai Artisan ‘Pinsuwan Benjarong’ and Celadon plates from local manufacturer ‘Mengrai Kilns’.

The Michelin Guide considers all the elements that make up the restaurant experience, including service.  This award is therefore a credit to our team of highly trained staff — all of whom are dressed in Comme des Garçons, many of them loyal to nahm since its founding in September 2010.

The owners of COMO Hotel and Resorts see this award as recognition of that passion and commitment, which shows itself in every detail, from the King fish salad with pomelo, lemongrass and lime, to our restaurant’s signature blue swimmer crab curry.

Kevin J. Abramowicz, Regional General Manager, COMO Thailand and Bhutan, states: “We are truly honoured and proud to be amongst the first to receive a Michelin Star in Bangkok. It is most rewarding that the creativity of Chef David Thompson and the consistency of the entire team at nahm are being recognized with this prestigious award.”

Guests wishing to guarantee a booking at nahm can do so with the ‘nahm Experience’; this offer combines a one-night stay at COMO Metropolitan Bangkok with a tasting menu. Cost per person from AU294 (single occupancy) to AU396 (double occupancy). The ‘nahm Experience’ is also open to longer-stay guests.
