Notorious thief held, 210 grams gold, Rs 7.8 L recovered

RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM : The police arrested a notorious thief and recovered `7.8 lakh and 210 grams of gold ornaments from him at Sitampeta here on Tuesday. Disclosing the details to the media, Urban SP B Rajakumari, said Yaddanapudi Arul Mariya Raju (67), a habitual offender belonging to Dargamitta in Nellore district, was currently staying in Vijayawada. He is involved in 60 theft cases in East and West Godavari, Guntur, Vijayawada and Rajamahendravaram in the past 40 years. 

Explaining the modus operandi of the accused, the SP said that Mariya Raju used to stay in lodges and commit thefts at night time. He was involved in two theft cases in Lalitha Nagar and Veerabhadrapuram in Rajamahendravaram. 

A team led by III Town CI PV Maruthi Rao arrested the thief. The SP appreciated the efforts of police team comprising M V Rao, P Venkateswara Rao, K Sreenu, A Sreenu and K Venkat for nabbing the accused and announced rewards for them.

A massive fire broke out at a biscuit factory near Bairamalguda in the LB Nagar limits, Hyderabad in the early hours of Tuesday.The fire department was alerted immediately by the locals who noticed the flames and the fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames.With the fire so massive, two more fire tenders were called in to bring the situation under control.
