BJP versus Congress: Exit polls to predict who will win Gujarat

| Updated: Dec 13, 2017, 23:13 IST
NEW DELHI: As Gujarat readies itself to vote in the second and final phase of the assembly elections after a high-voltage political campaign, all eyes are now set on the exit poll predictions that will be in on Thursday evening.

While the BJP is confident of retaining Gujarat, Congress president-elect Rahul Gandhi has predicted a 'zabardast' result for his party.

The aggressive campaigning saw Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rahul engaged in attacks and counterattacks.

While the results will be known only on December 18 after counting is over, the exit polls by various pollsters tomorrow will surely give an indication of what lies in store.

It has been a mixed bag for the exit pollsters, with some of them getting it right in earlier polls and some falling way off the mark.

In the run up to the election, most predictions have favoured a win for the BJP, but with reduced numbers.

The polls do signal a better showing by the Congress, but not enough to catapult the party to power.

Exit polls tomorrow will give the first hint if Rahul's claims of an undercurrent against the BJP in Gujarat are true.

For the final verdict on this, we will have to wait till December 18.
