AIUDF chief and Lok Sabha PM, Badruddin Ajmal said that Rahul Gandhi can challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
What is hinting at new political equation, All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) is in all praise for new congress President Rahul Gandhi.

AIUDF chief and Lok Sabha PM, Badruddin Ajmal said that Rahul Gandhi can challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

AIUDF and congress are bitter rivals in Assam, AIUDF has caused extensive damage to congress in last assembly polls in 2016.

AIUDF has maintained that it is equidistance from both congress and BJP.

Ajmal said, "Rahul becoming congress president has taken place at right time. Rahul is capable to leading congress in the fight against communal forces. In last few months there is perceptible change in Rahul's approach. He is appearing to be more politically mature."

Ajmal added, "Rahul's transformation has put skilled orator like Modi in defensive. Many used to crack jokes on Rahul as Pappu. Now he has transformed into a leader who can challenge BJP and communal forces with resoluteness."

He added, "We are confident that Rahul will take forward the fight against communal forces. With Rahul leading the election campaign in Gujarat there is a sense of desperation in the BJP camp. Rahul has successfully highlighted anti people policies of the Centre and other BJP ruled states."

AIUDF cosying up to congress was evident for the party is part of the anti-BJP 18-party alliance led by Congress at the national level.

AIUDF wanted to cobble up Bihar type grand alliance during the Assam assembly polls last year however it could not materialize due to stiff opposition from former Assam chief minister, Tarun Gogoi. A section of senior congress leaders were however in favour of two parties joining hands.

Ajmal recently pinned hope that there may be some alliance with congress in 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Congress however has maintained that it has nothing to do with AIUDF.
