Purushottam Roy Barman, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) prosecutor, filed the affidavit and asked for all the reports from SIT to be handed over to it.
Special public prosecutor of CBI, K C Mishra informed that only three copies of FIR has been given by the SIT. The status report of the cases have not been handed over.
Terming it as an allegation, state advocate general Bijan Chandra Das said, "What the CBI is claiming is not right. SIT has given all the data and status report to the CBI in connection with the chit fund related cases."
In 2015, Tripura High Court asked the state government to set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe unlawful NBFCs and chit fund organisations operating in the state.
Multiple chit fund companies are actively operating in the state, said finance minister Bhanu Lal Saha in the last assembly session. Quoting statistics, he said that the companies collected money amounting to Rs 35,000 crore from the public.
On June 29, CBI had interrogated social welfare minister Bijita Nath in connection with the Rose Valley chit fund scam.
