Prince Harry, 33, and Meghan Markle, 36, are engaged to be married, with a royal wedding coming in spring 2018.

But it seems the UK is not happy about Harry’s new status, and would prefer him to remain footloose and fancy free.

Jewellers F.Hinds asked 1,500 members of the British public questions about celebrity romance, using national survey provider Leadership Factor, and a high number expressed negative feelings about Harry and Megan’s impending nuptials.

A whopping 67 per cent of women surveyed admitted to being “devastated” the dashing Prince is off the market.

And one in five respondents said they wanted Harry to be single - beaten only by their desire to see Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus to call their romance a day.

While royal weddings are always popular, only 43 per cent of those surveyed were rooting for Meghan and Harry’s marriage - meaning 57 per cent were against the match.

But as Meghan prepares for life within the Royal Family, the likelihood of Prince Harry ever being single again is slim.

Just six weeks after their engagement announcement, Meghan will spend Christmas Day with the Queen and the rest of the royals at Sandringham, it has been confirmed.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said: "You can expect to see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry and Ms Markle on Christmas Day."

So what do the Royal Family do on Christmas Day?

Gifts are exchanged on Christmas Eve, not Christmas Day, as is the German tradition - the family are of German descent and are said to like to try and weave some elements into their celebrations.

The big day starts with a walk to St Mary Magdalene Church, with a service lasting around 45 minutes. There's often a crowd of people to greet the Queen and her family - and a plethora of press waiting to pap the happy family together.

As for Christmas Day lunch, the Queen's former personal chef Darren McGrady has revealed exactly what the family enjoy.

Speaking to GoodHousekeeping.com, he said: “After church, that's when they have a big lunch that includes a salad with shrimp or lobster, and a roasted turkey, and all of your traditional side dishes like parsnips, carrots, Brussels sprouts and Christmas pudding with brandy butter for dessert.

"They stick with the same meal year after year."

Christmas dinner is served at 1pm, he confirmed. Not a minute after and not a minute before - this is so the family can be done with their dinner before the Queen's speech is aired at 3pm on BBC1.
