HMD Global has started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo beta build for its Nokia 5 smartphone. Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer of HMD Global confirmed it in his tweet and also said that the Nokia 6 will also receive the update soon.
Nokia 5 owners need to sign up for the Nokia phones beta labs to receive the beta version of Android 8.0 Oreo. The beta labs will allow Nokia 5 users to test drive the Oreo build before it's ready for a general roll out. Since the phone will work on a beta version, there could be some bugs and the software experience may not be completely stable. Users can sign up for the program here.
The Nokia phones beta labs program was kicked off by rolling out the Oreo beta update for the Nokia 8. The smartphone recently started receiving the official stable Android 8.0 Oreo update. The beta labs was introduced by the company to roll out beta versions of Android to their smartphones. It allowed users to sign up and test it and report any bugs that were found in the early build.
In terms of specifications, the Nokia 5Where to buy 12800 sports a 5.2-inch HD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC with 3GB of RAM. It comes with 16GB of expandable storage and is powered by a 3000mAh battery. The smartphone sports a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture lens and comes with an 8MP front-facing camera. It runs on Android Nougat out-of-the-box.
