Nagpur: 'Suhane Geeton ka Karwan', a programme of music, took people down memory lane with the singers presenting hit songs featured on ever-smiling Shashi Kapoor, who passed away recently.
The programme, organized on Wednesday by Kalasrushti Bahu-uddeshiya Sanstha (KBS) at Utkarsha Sabhagruha of Mor Hindi Bhavan, Sitabuldi, to pay tributes to Shashi Kapoor, who wooed heroines on the silver screen and was loved by his fans for well over four decades, was well-presented.
Corporator of ward number 35 Sandeep Gavai and divisional commercial manager (DCM) of Central Railways Ajay Denial were the chief guests at the programme. The event started with the garlanding a photograph of Kapoor by Philip Jaiswal, working president of KBS.
The music show began with the presentation of 'Yahan main ajnabee hoon' from the handsome actor's movie 'Jab Jab Phool Khile' by Harshel Thomas, founder and president of KBS.
Rajiv Khatri gave an energetic performance with 'Thoda ruk jayegi toh tera kya jayega'. Songs like 'Kabhi raat din hum dur the' and 'Kehna hai kehna hai' were highly appreciated by the audience. The event was a combination of soft and energetic music.
KBS is an organization started by Thomas and his wife Lalita in 2009 to provide senior citizens a forum to showcase their talent and pursue their hobbies. The organization has around 200 members and it conducts regular singing and acting practice sessions and then provides a stage to them to display their talent. This programme was one of the series the organization holds.
The members are also sent to competitions outside the city. Other activities like picnics are also carried out by the organization for its members. Programmes with different themes are also conducted, like 'Hits by Lata Mangeshkar' and others.
