
Fake Aadhar card racket has been busted in Chennai
The police found that the three identified as Arun, 25, a resident of Kosapet, Balamurugan, 28, of Pattalam and Nimb Bahadur Katri, 24, of Purasawalkam, were engaged in argument over some money dispute. During further investigation, it emerged that Arun and Balamurugan were working in a private bank and managed details related to Aadhaar cards of bank customers.
"The duo had whisked away electronic gadgets from the bank premises and utilised to issue fake cards for migrants. They collected fingerprints of the migrants, including Nepalis and those from north India, and registered under valid addresses to issue fake Aadhaar cards", sources said.
The gang had given away 60 Aadhaar cards to the migrants so far and had charged Rs 1,500 from each 'customer', it is learnt. The Thiruvanmiyur police have booked them under sections 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 408 (criminal breach of trust by clerk or servant).
