VB registers disproportionate assets case against irrigation department SDO

Chandigarh: The Punjab vigilance bureau on Tuesday booked sub-divisional officer (SDO) Kamikar Singh of the irrigation department posted at the Dam Wing in Patiala for amassing wealth to the tune of Rs 2.38 crore more than his known sources of income.


The bureau had launched an inquiry against the SDO in 2016 and found that he and his family members had spent Rs 2.38 crore on various moveable and immovable properties, besides other expenditures. The bureau spokesperson said the SDO had amassed assets 389% more than his actual income. He said the VB team chose specific check period during which the accused SDO held responsible postings.


The case has been registered against the SDO and his family members, including wife Jaswant Kaur, son Shubhdeep Deol and daughter Rajan Deol, under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act at VB police station in Mohali.
