THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Pettah police on Tuesday launched a search for two persons suspected of raping a 27-year-old woman. According to the police, a case had been registered based on a complaint by the victim before a local magistrate. In her complaint, she accused two persons - Jayesh and Renjith - of sexually exploiting her last year.

The victim, hailing from Kilimanoor said in the complaint she was exploited by the accused on the pretext of providing an offer in movies as Jayesh was a media professional and a film producer. When the victim was staying in a shelter home at Poojappura, she was offered a job as domestic help by the accused. However, Jayesh took her to rented houses at Chengannur and Parippally in the guise of providing shelter and abused her many times along with Renjith.

The magistrate forwarded her statement to the Parippally police station. Paravoor circle inspector, under whose jurisdiction Parippally station comes, conducted a preliminary inquiry into the incident and found there was merit in her complaint. However, since the crime first took place under the Pettah police station limits, the case was later handed over to them.
