Mahinda Rajapaksa argues that he did not steal during his tenure as the president, but from time to time he makes remarks which contradict that claim. Some time ago, he described HORA (thief) as the HONDAMA RAJYA SEVAKAYA (best public servant) and that he was proud to be called so. Also, his son Namal said at a meeting that there were better thieves than the Rajapaksa family.

The latest came yesterday (11), when Mahinda said the thieves who had been in his government were now joining the government one by one. He was responding to questions raised by journalists about joint opposition MPs joining the government. That means, Mahinda admits that ministers of his government did steal. Leaving alone the thievery committed by the Rajapaksa family, what he had done was to protect a pack of thieves. By that, he cannot escape from the responsibility of what had happened during this administration.
