Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is not a film…it’s an emotion. We have watched it countless number of times, know exactly when Shah Rukh Khan fell for Rani Mukerji first and Kajol later, every time Aman gives up Anjali for her happiness we call him a gentleman. We all do these every time we watch the film, even today despite it having one of the silliest plots ever. Don’t take offence, Karan Johar too called it a silly film! But here’s a trivia about the film which will perhaps make your jaws drop. Javed Akhtar thought the title Kuch Kuch Hota Hai has double meaning in it.

Javed Akhtar will be one of the guests to talk about his life on Shah Rukh Khan hosted Ted Talks. While speaking about his alliance with the actor, the legendary script writer said, “I thought the movie’s name (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai) had a lot of double meaning. I was not convinced to write for this project. But I was all praises for SRK in Kal Ho Na Ho, and I am happy I could be a part of the journey. I used the words I rejected earlier to make a more meaningful song which you all (audience) made popular. It was Kuch Toh Hua Hai, Kuch Hogaya Hai.” Yes, he did say that! We obviously would have never thought of it on those lines but now, it’s putting ideas in our head now.
Karan Johar had told IANS once, “Actually, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ is a very unusually silly theme. Don’t know what the mother wrote in those eight letters, how can a eight-year-old read that? But it was done with so much conviction, a mother has left eight letters, but kya likha hoga pehli, dusri chhitti may ki woh bachcha padh sake? He (the hero) says, ‘Zindagi may pyaar ek bar hota hai, shaadi ek bar hoti hai’, but he himself has fallen in love twice, got married twice. Everything was wrong, but it was written with so much conviction that it made sense.”
