Infant, father killed as car rams vehicle

PUNE: A man and his nine-month-old daughter were killed, while three others were injured on Monday evening after a speeding car rammed their vehicle on the service lane leading to the food mall at Taje on Pune-Mumbai Expressway, around 40km from here.

The two cars veered off the service lane, fell in a nullah before turning turtle. The occupants of both the cars belonged to Mumbai.


The Kamshet police identified the deceased as Sumit Sejlani (28) of Ulhasnagar and his daughter Hritika. Ravi Sejlani (24), Vina Sejlani (48) and Krisha Sejlani (27), also residents of Ulhasnagar, suffered serious injuries in the accident.


A man was driving the car that rammed into the vehicle in which the Sejlani family members were travelling.


According to the police, the two cars were heading towards Mumbai from Pune. Both left the expressway corridor and headed towards the food mall at Taje village around 6pm. The man driving the car did not slow down after switching to the service lane and hit the vehicle in which the Sejlanis were travelling, the police said.
