Benitez: Newcastle won't sell to buy in January

2017-12-12 15:21

Cape Town - Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has revealed that he is not looking to sell any of his players to make funds available for January signings.

Aleksandar Mitrovic and Rolando Aarons have already been linked with moves away from St James' Park, but Benitez insists he needs his entire squad and will look to add more players if possible.

"At the moment we aren’t thinking about selling anybody because we need our players," Benitez told the Chronicle.

"I don't know how much money will be available or what we will do.

"We have to be sure that this group of players continue to work as hard as they are doing at the moment.

"If we can bring in some positions or some help, we will do it.

"But to do that, sometimes you don't need to sell players to be sure you can attract the others."

Last season's Championship winners have endured a difficult spell recently, losing six of their last seven Premier League games and dropping to 16th position.

Newcastle welcome Everton to St James' Park on on Wednesday, December 13 for a Premier League clash.

Kick off is at 21:45.
