27-yr-old farmer commits suicide in Dabhadi

Yavatmal: Dabhadi village, about 30 kms away from Yavatmal city, witnessed one more suicide, this time that of a young farmer. The total number of suicides has gone up to 17 in the village since 2005.

The farmer who committed suicide is identified as Kailas Kisan Mankar (27), who took the extreme step due to the crop failure. He consumed poison in his house.

Kailas is the second farmer who committed suicide after Modi addressed the nation in his much-hyped pre poll election campaign in 2014 under the banner 'Chai pe charcha' in which he had assured a number of promises to the farming community.

Kailas had three acre of land while he had taken another five acre on rent. He was cultivating the eight acre land after his father's death. The crop failure and the loan liability forced him to take the extreme step.
