Arsenal news: Oliver Giroud reveals who could influence his decision on Gunners future

OLIVIER GIROUD has sensationally claimed he would be open to a loan move next month and suggests his national team coach wants him to move away from Arsenal.

Giroud came off the bench for Arsenal yesterday to salvage a point against Southampton.

The equaliser was Giroud’s 17th top flight goal coming off the bench, drawing level with the Premier League record held by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

It also once again raised the question on Giroud’s future, who is yet to start a league game for Arsenal this season.

He found himself in the same situation last season, when his first start didn’t come until Boxing Day against West Brom.

A loan could be an option, but I do not think that Arsenal will want that

Olivier Giroud

The France international struggled to oust Alexis Sanchez as the main striker and this campaign he has also had to compete with fellow compatriot Alexandre Lacazette.

Giroud was linked with a move away from the Emirates in the summer but he opted to stay and fight for his place.

But the 31-year-old has now seemingly had a change of heart with next year’s World Cup in mind.

“The reason for me not leaving this summer was partly down to the opportunities that I had,” Giroud told L’Equipe.

“But at some point, I will have to ask the question again.

“We are not yet in January, and I do not have all the keys in my hand.

“What the French national team boss advises also comes into account. But it will not be able to find the right solution. Again, we will look at our options.
