After playing Van Wezel in 2016, Gordon Lightfoot has announced his return to the venue.

The Canadian singer-songwriter will play Van Wezel on Feb. 22. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.

Lightfoot rose to prominence in the 1960s and 1970s with songs such as “Sundown,” which was a No. 1 hit, “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” and “If You Could Read My Mind." His admirers include Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson and Johnny Cash.

The musician was named a Companion of the Order of Canada, the country's highest civilian honor, in 2003 and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2012. Last year he released the song “Plans of My Own,” his first new music in 12 years.
