Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho expects his team to bounce back

Manchester United saw their hopes of Premier League title glory dealt a major blow on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils lost 2-1 to Manchester City after David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi struck for the visitors.

Marcus Rashford's goal proved to be mere consolation as Manchester United were outclassed in front of their home support.

But Mourinho, speaking ahead of the Red Devils' clash against Bournemouth tomorrow night, expects his team to fight back from the result.

"We try to win all the time and, I repeat, when you have a bad result, you don’t want to have two bad results," he said.

"We lost against Chelsea and the next match we had a little bit extra to try to win.

"Chelsea lost last weekend [against West Ham], for sure they have a little bit more to give in the next match."

United drew 1-1 with Bournemouth last season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed a penalty in that game as the Red Devils lost ground in the race for the top four.

And Mourinho is hoping for a better result.

"I told you when it was eight points or something like that, we go match after match, one match at a time, try to win the match, try to get maximum points," he said.

"We have the number of points we have, last season we had seven or eight less in this moment.

"Last season, we drew at home to Bournemouth, now let’s try to do better than we did last season."
