Strictly Come Dancing axes major finale twist following controversial series

STRICTLY Come Dancing has made a massive change to the schedule of its finale following a controversial series.

show bosses have decided to cut the mid-show exit that takes place in the first hour of the show, which leaves only three celebrities dancing for the infamous Glitterball trophy.

The show's social media page has announced that all four dance acts will be staying until the end of the show when the final results are revealed.

They posted: "In the Grand Final each of our four couples will dance a Judges’ Pick, a Showdance and their own Favourite Dance. It’s a public vote only. Then… the winners will be announced."

CHANGE UP: The show will keep all four acts until the very end of the finale

This decision was made at the start of the series, and wasn't affected by the controversies of the show, according to The Telegraph.

Fans have been left outraged by a number of on-screen dramas this year, including Aston Merrygold's unexpected exit, alleged favouritism for Debbie McGee and Alexandra Burke, and rumoured feuds backstage.

But the BBC insist that the decision came after the success of last year's final, which featured Ore Oduba, Danny Mac and Louise Redknapp.

CHANGE UP: Last year's finale only had three contestants in it

They added that there was only three acts in the finale last year because of Will Young's early departure.

They told The Sun: "The producers always wanted a final in which all the couples danced three times. It proved hugely successful in 2016 and we’re very excited about the routines that will be performed this weekend."

Only Gemma Atkinson, Joe McFadden, Alexandra Burke and Debbie McGee remain in the competition to fight for victory.
