Man Utd vs Man City tunnel bust-up: Both clubs play blame game after Manchester derby

THE TWO Manchester clubs last night played the blame game as the Football Association launched an investigation into Old Trafford’s latest tunnel bust-up.

Manchester United and City were involved in a fracas

City sources say the fracas that followed their 2-1 win in Sunday’s derby would not have happened if United manager Jose Mourinho had not poked his nose into their dressing room to tell their jubilant players to tone down their celebrations.

United sources claim City’s celebrations were excessive, showed a lack of respect and were unlike anything seen before at Old Trafford by a visiting team.

The FA have written to both clubs asking for their observations – they have until tomorrow tea-time to submit them.

Up to 20 players and coaching staff were alleged to have been involved in the fracas which started when Mourinho is alleged to have had an angry exchange in Portuguese with City’s Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson.

Water and milk were thrown at Mourinho and Manchester City coach Mikel Arteta ended up with a cut above his eye.

But both clubs insist no punches were thrown.

Referee Michael Oliver, it is understood, was not aware of the incident and has not mentioned it in his match report and the police will not get involved.
