Montpellier's SA flank sidelined after wrist op

2017-12-12 16:19

Montpellier - South African flank Wiaan Liebenberg is set for a three month spell on the sidelines as he needs an operation on a broken wrist, his French club Montpellier said on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old will join French international wing Benjamin Fall in missing Saturday's European Cup clash with Glasgow.

Fall, 28, suffered a cut elbow in last week's 29-22 victory over Glasgow in Scotland.

That success resurrected Montpellier's hops of making the European Champions Cup knock-out rounds having lost their opening two matches against Exeter and Leinster.

The French Top 14 outfit are third in Pool 3 and six points behind Irish province Leinster, knowing that another victory against Glasgow is imperative if they are to stay in the race for the quarter-finals.

Cant wait for this badboy to come off. #takemystronghand
