Surrendered cadres participated in an orientation program organized by EGH administration

East Garo Hills DistrictEast Garo Hills District administration in partnership with the Tourism Department on Monday had arranged a one-day career guidance orientation programme in tourism for all the surrendered cadres who are associated with the militant organizations of Garo Hills at Williamnagar Circuit House.

 
While delivering the speech at the time of the programme, Deputy Commissioner, Ram Kumar stated that the main purpose of the programme was to offer livelihood opportunities to the surrendered cadres via touris. Simultaneously, it would get them associated with different tourism based livelihood activities. He also requested the youth who are still living in the jungles to come out and get associated with the mainstream as there are many opportunities and rehabilitation packages tailor-made for them.

 
Highlighting on the need to endorse eco-tourism in the right way to make sure more visitors come to the region, Ram Kumar mentioned that employment should be increased in the region through eco-tourism thus helping the youth to find jobs in their own region as well as outside the state. He simultaneously assured the help and support of the district administration for the surrendered cadres to guide them in joining the mainstream.

 
On the occasion, presentations on Manas Wild Life Sanctuary, Garo Hills as Tourist Destination and Tourism for Livelihood Improvement were presented by Bulbully S Marak, East Garo Hills Tourist Officer, Dipu N Marak, President of the A’chik Tourism Society and Director of Western Region MBDA, Daniel J Ingty respectively.
