The outspoken host, 52, found himself buffeted by Susanna's sneezing after she came into work with a "small sniffle". 

Piers joked: "I'm actually being infected by a snorting Susanna Reid. 

"If I get infected by this I will not be happy.

"I'm thinking about the viewers - they could do without Susanna, but they couldn't do without me," he insisted. 

Within minutes, Piers was handed a oxygen mask to try and protect him from any potential germs that were swirling in the air. 

"I can't risk getting ill again," he swiped. "Ive had two crippling bouts of man flu.

What's more, Good Morning Britain's resident medical man, Dr Hillary Jones appeared on set which gave Piers even more to worry about. 

He yelled: "When the in-house doctor rushes in, he understands it's a medical emergency."

However, Susanna, 47, downplayed the "illness", insisting that if she tells herself she isn't ill, she will be cured. 

Only time will tell if Piers does catch Susanna's cold, but it seems he's trying his best not to.
