(Agencia CMA Latam) - Argentinean President Mauricio Macri on Tuesday hosted the opening ceremony of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Investment Forum, held this week in Buenos Aires.
In prepared remarks, he said that Argentina is "going through a new stage towards a commercial opening."
"We know the problems that trade openness can generate. We live in a country that was isolated for many decades, that's why we chose the path of gradualism, with dialogue as a method," Macri said. "We must carry out this opening with national and international policies that contribute to economic development."
Macri also said that "trade should be a transformation tool that accelerates growth equitably and sustainably."
He also stressed the importance of consensus between the public and private sectors: "Governments can not do it alone and public-private dialogue is important," he said.
