Odisha: IRB jawan tonsures constable, makes him eat human excreta over witchcraft charge
The IRB jawan suspected that the constable applied witchcraft on his sister that made her perennially sick.

A police constable was allegedly tonsured and forced to eat human excreta by a jawan of the India Reserve Battalion in Odisha over allegation that the former had performed black magic on the latter’s sister, police said.
The IRB jawan, Amarendra Kanhar, posted at Bidangi Sahi suspected that the constable, Gauranga Charan Kanhar, attached with Kandhamal district police applied witchcraft on his sister that made her perennially sick, locals said.
At around 9.30pm on Monday, Amarendra, accompanied by his friends dragged Gouranga towards a sewage line in Bidangi Sahi area where he was tonsured and made to drink the sewage, the victim’s daughter alleged in her FIR.
The constable was also detained by Amarendra and his group. He was rescued only after a team from Phulbani Town police station rushed to the spot and detained the perpetrators.
Kandhamal SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said the police have registered a case and detained the IRB jawan and three of his associates.
The constable’s statement has been recorded and further investigation is on.
