Poll-bound R.K. Nagar was chock-a-block with cadre of various political parties landing in the constituency on Monday evening, with both the Chief Minister and the leader of Opposition campaigning for votes.
A few hours ahead of a public meeting of DMK working president, M.K. Stalin, the party cadre descended in large numbers, and walked with flags and banners from various parts of the constituency to the venue, holding up traffic.
Even as a large group of DMK cadre walked on the IOC flyover from Powerhouse junction at R.K. Nagar, an ambulance struggled to make its way and had to drive on the opposite side.
With the Chief Minister alsocampaigning for the AIADMK candidate, the traffic situation became worse. The work of the Metro Rail on stretches added to the misery of the road users.
“It is because of the election campaigning, the traffic is so bad. We cross this bridge in less than five minutes every day,” an auto driver said while waiting on the flyover for about 30 minutes.
