Man accused of killing realtor held after encounter: Police

The Sahibabad police today claimed to have arrested the prime accused in the killing of a realtor after an encounter last night.

The realtor was shot dead in his office by unknown assailants on November 9, they said.


According to SP city Akash Tomar, following a tip off a checking drive was initiated in the Shalimar Garden area near ESI hospital by barricading the road.

SHO Singh, who was leading the police team, signalled a white colour car to stop.

"Instead of halting the car the driver sped away after which the police team chased them. The vehicle rammed into a wall near a school and two occupants jumped down and tried to flee. The driver, meanwhile, opened fire on the police party. Three police personnel had a narrow escape. In retaliation, the police team also fired and a bullet hit the accused in his leg," Tomar said.

The arrested person has been identified as Mushtaq, who carried a Rs 25,000 reward for information about him, he added.

Police officials claimed that the realtor S P Singh was killed over a land dispute.

They also claimed to have recovered a pistol of .32 bore and 3 live and three used cartridges. A swift desire VDI car without registration number plate has also been seized, they said.
