WARANGAL: As learning the language will help one to understand literature and culture better, literary figures from the Telangana region have been stressing the need to promote Telangana dialect.
Noted  poet  Goreti Venkanna, who hails from Mahabubnagar district, believes that there was need for people especially youth and children to learn Telangana dialect to have knowledge about Telangana literature and culture.

“One may not be able to associate with the literature until one follows the dialects properly. Knowledge of language is the key to understand  the culture, tradition and people of a particular region.”
“We should stress on usage of our dialect so that it becomes popular among the young generation. This would go a long way in  promoting Telangana literature ,” Venkanna told Express on the  sidelines of a programme organised by Warangal rural district  administration as part of World Telugu Conference.

To  understand great poets including Kaloji Narayana Rao  and others, one needs to have the understanding of Telangana dialect,  Venkanna stated. The great poet from Nellore Vemana became popular as his  poems were known for use of simple language and native idioms,  hence, to make Telangana literature popular among people, there was a need to write in peoples’ language, he said.
Several district officials participated.
