The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday alleged that Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has become the part and parcel of sand mafia in the state by taking no action on the Justice Narang Commission report.
Releasing the information under the Right to Information (RTI) Act related to Justice Narang Commission report, Leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha, Sukhpal Khaira pointed that the Punjab’s Industries and Commerce Department has stated that “the report is under consideration as of now and you will be informed as and when there is any decision”.
Khaira said that it was most shocking, saddening and unfortunate that despite the fact that Justice Narang had handed over his report to the Chief Minister on August 10, and the Chief Minister had directed the Chief Secretary to take action within 15 days, “no action has been taken on the report even after passage of four months”.
“This only shows that either the bureaucrats are not bothered about the directions or orders of the Chief Minister or the Chief Minister is playing a dubious role to shield and protect sand mining mafia indicted by Justice Narang,” he said.
Khaira said that it Was a matter of record that Justice Narang, while concluding and giving his opinion on part A of the terms of reference, has questioned the allotment of two mines to the frontmen of “tainted” Minister Rana Gurjit Singh.
“The conclusion about the nefarious role of Amit Bahadur and Kulwinderpal Singh, actually the frontmen of tainted Minister Rana Gurjeet, stands exposed abundantly clear that it was the tainted Minister who was the actual bidder of the said sand mines,” he added.
