Reliever Neshek set to return to Phillies
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — A person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press that free-agent relief pitcher Pat Neshek is returning to the Philadelphia Phillies and will get a $16.5 million, two-year contact pending a successful physical. Neshek, 37, was traded from Philadelphia to Colorado in late July for three prospects. The sidearming righty was a combined 5-3 with one save and a 1.59 ERA in 71 games. He had a 1.12 ERA in 43 games for the Phillies.
More baseball: A person with direct knowledge of the deal says the Texas Rangers and right-hander Chris Martin have agreed on a $4 million, two-year contract after the reliever spent the past two seasons in Japan.
College basketball: Villanova is the new No. 1 in The Associated Press Top 25 while Arizona State made a big leap from 15th to fourth. The Wildcats (10-0) were fourth but earned 41 of 65 first-place votes to hop over Michigan State, which earned 19 first-place votes to climb from third to second. Duke, which had been the unanimous No. 1, lost to Boston College and is fifth. Arizona State, which beat then-No. 2 Kansas, earned the other five first-place votes. ... The No. 7 Tennessee women (10-0), off a win over then-No. 2 Texas, are in the top 10 for the first time since Nov. 30, 2015. UConn (8-0) is the unanimous No. 1. ... Jack Montague, who was expelled from Yale in 2016 for sexual misconduct, has enrolled at Belmont University.
