The Blues ran out 3-1 victors at Huddersfield, with Tiemoue Bakayoko, Willian and Pedro netting for Chelsea.

Laurent Depoitre netted a consolation goal for Huddersfield just before the final whistle but it was too late to mount a comeback.

And Chelsea boss Conte has hailed his side, claiming the Blues were always on top against the Terriers.

He said: “I think we must be very happy for the performance because from the start of the game we showed a great personality and desire to win the game against a very good team.

“They beat Manchester United and City struggled to win. To win this way is very important as it improves our confidence after a defeat against West Ham.

“The last nine games, Chelsea won seven, drew against Liverpool away and lost at West Ham. I think we are doing a great path but there is a team that is doing a special thing. But then we stay there with the rest.

“We have to continue in this way to try to play this football. My players enjoyed to play this type of football to have this great combination play between our strikers.

“I saw a lot of positive things, but one negative was to concede at the end and we must improve in this because it is important to keep clean sheets, for the goalkeeper and the team.”

The win for Chelsea tonight put them level on points with Manchester United, who host Bournemouth tomorrow evening.

Chelsea are back in action on Saturday when Conte’s men host Southampton.
