TECUMSEH — A pedestrian died following a collision with a tractor trailer on County Road 46 on Monday evening, the Ontario Provincial Police said in a statement late that night.

A stretch of County Road 46 just east of Windsor remained closed in both directions as the OPP’s technical collision investigators probed the crash that occurred at approximately 9 p.m.

According to emergency services dispatches, the victim was discovered in a ditch and rushed to hospital in critical condition. He died later of injuries sustained in the collision, police report.

County Road 46 was closed between the Sexton Side Road and Essex County Road 17 as OPP investigated. Tecumseh firefighters and EMS paramedics were at the scene. A tanker truck used to haul milk was stopped at the side of the road.

Investigators are urging anyone with information regarding this collision to contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.
