Braden River took its second loss of the girls’ basketball season, though it was to the same school.
Carrollwood Day School of Tampa pulled out a 71-66 victory over the Pirates on Braden River’s court.
The visiting Patriots (7-1) are among the top teams in Class 4A. They led 38-37 at halftime and never trailed in the second half, outscoring Braden River 19-11 in the third quarter.
Omariah Gordon led the Pirates (5-2) with 18 points while Julia Rodriguez added 16.
Tarriyonna Gary led CDS with 19 points. The Patriots won 71-62 in Tampa in the season opener for both schools on Nov. 21.
The Pirates are at Manatee on Tuesday in a pivotal Class 8A-District 11 matchup. They are 2-0 in the district while Manatee (7-1) is 1-1 in the district, with the Hurricanes’ lone loss to district co-leader Lakewood Ranch (7-3).
